St Mary the Blessed Virgin: Worshipping God, Loving our neighbour
Our church hall was built in 1962, over the years various small upgrades have taken place. However, it is currently in need of maintenance work in many area, notably doors, security, windows and timber-work, and it would be good opportunity to combine those with a full refurbishment.
By modernising its appearance would create a more welcoming environment and improve the quality of service for the congregation and the wider community.
The main hall is currently used by the church for a wide range of outreach activities. it’s available for hire and hosts a variety activities with a particular community focus. A list of current activities can be found here.
Create a new welcoming atrium making use of natural light.
The current entrance is very dark and unwelcoming to visitors, with access to Parish office etc. at the back of building.
Create a new commercial grade kitchen and additional flexible space beside that could be used for setting out additional catered items or used as a meeting room.
This would be achieved by removing the stage at the north end of hall.
Current kitchen is very small and not adequate for commercial catering.
Create a new floor about new kitchen area which would create two further flexible meetings room.
These would be accessed outside the kitchen area.
Flat/Parish office – problems with access and design of rooms make it in adequate for meeting rooms
Create access from the new atrium via stair or lift to what was a flat/Parish office.
Rework the space to provide a variety of meetings rooms, unisex toilet, refreshment point. Also, we would like to add an area for hot desking.
Upgrade all windows and doors which will provide additional security.
Redesigned and resurfaced to provide a car park with marked bays and the surrounding area landscaped with particular attention to planting bee- and insect-friendly items.
